Walter Oketta is our project manager for all home construction in Northern Uganda. He has extensive background experience in human resources, non-profit work, and holistic approaches to post war community rehabilitation. Walter has a Bachelor’s degree in both education and speech pathology, an administrative law certificate, and a Master’s degree in public administration and management. He spends his free time traveling, watching soccer and hockey.

 

Akecha is a large community in Northern Uganda. This community has strong local leadership, a school, and water sources. They struggle with the effects of generational poverty, and the legacy of these homes is changing the landscape of this community. A few donors also funded a large church for the community of Akecha that is the source of weekly services and spiritual growth. A weekly preschool, led by community school teachers, utilizes the classroom facilities at the church. This allows over 160 children to receive early education training each week.
